How can your site get highly ranked in Google?

Google’s search engine is considered as a black box that provides search rankings for websites based upon mysterious calculations. In essence, it uses a variety of methods to determine which pages are displayed first in the results. Though it’s no secret that the exact algorithm is a secret, there are a few things you can do to move a rung higher up on the positioning ladder. The term for this activity is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Keyword Phrases

Focus on a keyword phrase than a keyword. Don’t overdo it. Try to imagine what keyword phrase you would type into Google for each page if you were searching your own website. It may be helpful to get a different perspective, from a colleague as well. You can also consider Google Trends™ to see if a phrase is gaining popularity, and incorporating it into your blog. Stick to one subject per page, and one keyword phrase per page.

Google looks for the density of the keyword usage, when it catalogs pages. But overdoing it, even gets your website banned. One way of tweaking it is by moving the important keywords closer to the start of your title. For
example, if you write a blog about “polishing a car”  your title could be “How to polish a car”

Share Your Content on Slide Share

Google indexes all its content within seconds. Take your blog post and convert it into a slideshare presentation and upload it. Voila! It will be indexed within seconds and there is a good chance of getting the content ranked highly on Google.

Share your post on Google +

If you share content out on Google + and people indicate they like it by clicking on the Google + button this will help with ranking of content. Also, if people in your Google + network are logged in to Google while they are searching your post will come up higher than people outside their network if the post is relevant.

Optimize your images

When you are uploading an image, here are a few things you want to consider:

Name of image – Include relevant keywords in the name of your image. Don’t name it xyz.jpg or mohamed1.jpg

Alt Tag of Image – This is the most important element. Google will index content based on this Tag so choose your keywords wisely.

Image Size – When your web page takes a long time to load Google can penalize it. So make sure you don’t have images that are the level of quality that is not required for your blog post.

Tweak Your Page Title

Give your pages a name with the <title> attribute. Google displays search results as a link using the Web page’s title.
When appropriate, use the page’s keyword phrase in the title.

Improve your internal linking to the post

Following links, helps Google index and rank other content on the web. Google vitally looks at the hyperlinks. Google looks at both links to and from your website. It watches the words you use in links to help determine the content of
your page. Rather than saying, “Click here (and providing a hyperlink to the word here) to navigate to links” you should say: “Navigate to link” (which in itself should be a hyperlink).

Increase your site’s popularity:

Google considers your site popular if many sites are pointing to your site through its address. So, you have to convince other websites to embed your link by a sort or another. Links from other websites to your website are used to determine PageRank. They help the crawlers find your site and can give it a greater visibility in the search results. Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote by page A for page B.

On the Internet there are a lot of free directories that can include your link and present your company information in its right category of business. DMOZ ( is the most important directory on the Internet, for -in addition- that it is a search place that contains millions of links, a lot of search engines including Google and Yahoo use it as one of the ways to update their indexes. There are also important directories such as Yahoo directory and a lot others.

Another good way to increase your back links is to write articles and submit them to article sites. There are a lot of sites out there that accept your articles for free where you can embed your site address with each article.

Guest blogging is also another way to increase your popularity. It is used to get a link to your website posted on an already established website. These links tend to carry more weight in Google because they are harder to acquire. You can also contact bloggers in your niche and request them for a link. You could also consider being a guest blogger for the sole purpose of getting the chance to link your guest blog posting back to your site. Google likes when external websites are linking to a post.

As with most activities that involve SEO, overdoing this back-linking activity might mark your site as a spam, as Google takes notice of the quality of the site you are linking from. Some linking sites have bad reputation.

Frequently update your site:

After the Google Penguin update, regularly posted quality content is the recommended method to getting more traffic to your website. Ideally you should post at least 2 articles per week, as Google will favor websites frequently updated.

Let search engines know you are there:

After preparing your site and doing your homework, it is time now to add your site to search engines. You can do it manually using a sub link on each search engine to post the url of your site, take for example Google’s site adding url , and there is another way is to let your developer make what is called: site XML map where there is one for Google, one for Yahoo, and one for Bing.

The above were some important techniques to increase your rank in search engines, especially Google, there are other techniques that enhance your position in search engines. So to make a long story short, in order to get organic traffic from search engines, you have to be persistent and disciplined, you have to continuously add relevant and readable content to your web site, you have to adhere to SEO rules (some of them were explained above) and let your site appear in Google’s first page.
